Here is a better picture of his BEAUTIFUL pearly whites! I think he is currently working on the top ones-and he still won't touch solids!

Summer Heat

OK-Its hot outside. When I say hot I mean, its like 100+ and I don't do hot! So I am inside just being bored...which is where the blog comes in handy. I guess I will just take this time to ramble and so I start:
First: How does it make any sense at all to like hot weather over cold? In the cold you can always put more clothes on, but last time I checked it was still illegal to go naked in public. (What you do in the privacy of your home I probably don't need to know!) So-I will never EVER understand my husband on that front-he just doesn't get the logic to my opinion. I will never argue that frigid cold is wonderful but it also seems like the sold weather is shorter lived than hot-probably because I think time tends to slow down in humidity due to the thickened air-thus the heat sticks around longer. Summer does have its place-so long as it caps out at about 90 and goes away before I forget what my hair looks like NOT in a ponytail! I guess the moral to this ramble is: I like fall-the perfect mix of warm days and cool nights along with the delicious smell of leaves...mmmm! Yep.
Next: I'm not sure where to go from here...what to write...hmmm...ah! There is a coupon on the desk next to me for a free Cinnabon Classic roll! Yum! I don't know why I never remember to bring that wonderful ticket to bliss with me when we go to Fort Smith but I am determined to remember one of these days, I just hope that day is before Dec. 31 2009 (expiration date). I guess that leads me to my next point: my new pet peeve.
When the first thing your husband says when he sees you after any length of time, 5min or 5days, is "Whats wrong?" GRRRR! That will immediately put a hitch in my giddy up. Does it mean that I walk around looking like the bearer of bad news or do I look sick or am I just that preoccupied with my world that I can't manage to put a nice face on for everyone to see? I thought I looked approachable and happy but apparently I need to work on it if the person who is supposed to know me best thinks there is something wrong within 60 seconds of seeing me. It would be nicer if I was approached with "hey babe-how are you doing today?" or "whats shakin bakin?" or even just "hows it goin?" Oh well-I have simply added that to the long list of things that I am training the man on. Kinda like turn signals...another story for another time...maybe I will remember to tell you all about those one of these day.

Well I am coming to the end of my thoughts for the day so I will wrap it up with a few pictures-we all know the only reason you even check the blogs on your list is to see what pics are new! Lol! Don't be ashamed-I do it too. Well, that's not the ONLY reason I'm sure but it is probably pretty good incentive. I understand because pictures are fun. They are little window's into a person's life and if you weren't there when the picture was taken then you get to imagine whatever you want to about what was going on at the time. Fun stuff. hehe...

Apparently Cody wore this outfit around this same age.....hmmmm...anyone else see the problem? He has pants up to his elbows and none on his ankles! Needless to say they were a little small on him. And if this is any indication of how tall he will be then Goodness help us! But we took the pictures like good parents and now we have even more disgraceful pictures of him to show his prom date in 16 or so years!

I find these pictures with Aunt Liz quite telling-they seem to be having the same amount of fun! I can't tell if she is entertaining him or the other way around-it is probably mutual though. And that is fine by me, I love it when Max is happy and Lizzy is quite good at keeping him occupied now that he plays with toys. No offense Liz, but we all know he was not impressed with you when he was tiny. She had tooo much energy for his littleness but now that he can handle it, well, bring it on he says! See-they seem to both want to play with the same toy! "Come on Aunt Liz, its my turn"

And I close with a personal fav-while my son refuses to eat bananas, peaches or carrots, I think he would quite enjoy a diet of plain white paper. However, much to his chagrin, we do not allow him to consume it!

Cody's First Father's Day

My boy's on Cody's first ever Father's Day! He was so excited-it was too cute-Max and I couldn't wait until the morning so he got to get his gifts the night before. Max gave his daddy a new pair of mud boots, (thrilling huh!) a tackle box full of non-chocolate candy, Hop on Pop, and a new box of fishing line. Max also signed his card with not only a hand print but also a foot print on the back! Over all it was a very sweet day!

A Few First Times!

Here are a few pictures of Max's first time tasting solid food-banana-, and his response-yuck! Since then we have let him try pureed peaches and carrots also...same reaction! So we move on.
Before:After:
I have also included a picture of his first tooth-if you look close you can see it! In fact there are 2 but I am not going to make you search for the other one-it is still pretty well hidden, although it is there!

I have no idea how to rotate this stinkin picture-deal with it! Grrr!

Growing Like A Weed!!!

Well Max is quite the big boy now. He officially has his first tooth! To be specific, he has his lower left incisor. I just can't believe it! To be honest, I don't think it was as bad as I was expecting. I mean, sure he had a few cranky day's but don't we all! He hasn't yet shown any real interest in any kind of teething aids-whoever is holding him better not be bothered by drool though because he LOVES chewing on people's hands! (Clean of course!) So... we have successfully made it through the first of many teeth and I can proudly say I am not dreading the next quite as bad. I will try to get a picture of this latest accomplishment but Max is pretty stubborn, although I don't know where that comes from. He tends to clench his jaws together whenever you try to look at his lower gums-and he has quite a bite!
Also we let him try his first solid food last night. I know I said a million times, "Oh, we are going to keep him exclusively breastfed until 6 months, blah blah blah." Well-I gave in! It was just too sad to watch him sitting at the table with Cody and I at meal time and he is just sitting in his Bumbo and drooling. :-( He would just sit there and watch as we ate, leaning into every bite with us and chewing his phantom food as we chew our yummy dinner. I couldn't stand it anymore! Not that it did much good...he hated it! I mashed up a single slice of a banana and fed it to him with my fingers and he promptly spit it out with a horrible face and a shiver, you know-the kind you do when you taste or smell something just awful! I tried it again this morning and got the same reaction so I guess we will put 'nanners on the back burner for now. Ah well...I guess I am not in any real hurry for my little guy to grow up. And its not like he is withering away to nothing since he is just nursing, he weighs a hefty 18+ lbs and is close to 30 inches long! I am going go out on a limb here and say-the day will come soon enough when we will have to include him in our eating out orders and I seriously doubt he will still be adverse to solids his entire life! (although, should that happen...I can make a pretty good blended burger I bet. You know-water it down with some ketchup or mustard and run it through the blender. Hehe!)
Enough is enough-I will add some pictures later...

Nothing Sweeter

I don't think there is much in the world that can compare to the perfect sweetness of a clean happy baby! Enjoy!

If you look at this picture closely you will see that Max has indeed mastered the art of splashing and he finds it fun!!!
Little wrinkled toes...darling!
Perfection in a glance:

What a sweet little boy!

A Family Filled Weekend

We had a great weekend this past one-Cody's Aunt Keb and her little dude Baker came down for a visit. Cody and P had been planning this weekend for quite some time, they planned on initiating Baker into the family past time-fishing! Well things don't always work out as we all know, especially when you are working with a very, ...tenacious...precocious...stubborn...hmmm...we will just go with busy, 3 1/2 year old boy. Baker was determined to not show the family enthusiasm for the sport-to which Cody says "I was never like that, why is Baker not patient?" To which I respond, "Honey, he is 3-get over it! He is not out to ruin your good time!" They apparently did get him to slow down and catch a few fish but if you asked Baker-and I did-he would tell you he didn't catch any. The poor little guy just wanted to feed the catfish and ride in the Gator. Not to say that I blame him-fishing can be a little slow and when it comes down to it who wouldn't rather throw food out for the massive and hideous catfish to come right up to the bank and eat!
Once we got past the lack of excitement over the fishing I think we all just enjoyed the weekend. Max was in a relatively good humor, Cody didn't have to work on a beautiful Saturday (that can put quite a burr in his butt!), and I got a great afternoon nap!
Well-I'm tired of writing about this weekend and as the saying goes "a picture says a thousand words", so I am going to let a few snapshots say the rest.
This is where it hit me just how much Baker has grown-the last time they came for a visit he could swing quite freely. This time we had to keep reminding him to pick his feet up because they were dragging on the ground

Can't you just feel the excitement for the sport in this picture! lol!

While Baker still didn't like sharing his mommy with Max I will say he is a very good Max-holder (Under adult supervision of course!) Good Job Baker!

I think he would live on the Gator if we would let him-that boy has the need for speed at a very young age. And to put it in his own vocabulary, "I'm a crazy driver!"

Max was only allowed in the picture if Baker got to hold him! I love the self assured stubbornness of a certain little 3 1/2 yr old!
