Run, Run, As Fast As You Can!

The Great Max Escape...Almost!
Step 1: Mommy catches boy trying to unplug lamp and play with outlet. Mommy says, "No, Max!"

Step 2: Boy takes off as fast as he can! Must run (crawl) from mommy!

Step 3: Escape is almost complete-must climb the stairs! (Which he can do quite efficiently now-we have to be ever vigilant)

Finale: Decided not to test mommy's patience and turns around at the last minute. Who could stay mad at that grin!

An Uneventful Halloween

As you can see, we didn't do a whole lot for Max's first Halloween-first came the pancakes for breakfast, then a visit with Aunt Grace and then dinner at Yaya's house. Fun but nothing to get too excited about. Moving right along....

Heading Home

We stopped off at the James A Gaston's visitors center at the Bull Shoals Dam on our way home. Had to get a few more family pictures and let Max stretch his legs one last time before the long drive home. Enjoy the view!
Max with the world record Brown Trout-almost as big!

They have aquariums with trout in them and Max thought they were pretty cool, except he wanted to bang on the glass and touch them!

Another good looking family picture.Beautiful boy getting too big too fast! I want him to stay this big forever! (or at least a while longer!) He has started letting go of things and he stays standing for a few seconds longer each day! Not fair-he is growing up. I guess that is how I can justify the ridiculous number of pictures I take!

I am so blessed!

Vacation 2009!

We had a great vacation this year-not that we don't have fun every year! Gaston's never disappoints and this year we had Max to make it that much better. He was quite a trooper in the car-the 3 1/2 hour drive both ways was a test of his patience but he did great. It is easier to show than explain-so enjoy the pictures from our first family vacation/3rd wedding anniversary!
Helping mommy get our bags packed! Lots and lots of help-he was making sure the bag was big enough!
This is pretty much how he slept the first 2 hours of the trip! (Note that he had to take his socks off-he NEVER sleeps in his car seat until he pulls them off!)
He thought the squirrels outside were the coolest things ever-they were there just to entertain him and he couldn't understand why they ran away when he pounded on the window to talk to them!
Here are my boys just chillin in the cabin-probably the best thing about Gastons-we do lots of "chillin"!
Max helping Grandpa Mark get his fishing line ready to catch all the big fish-once again, he was a BIG help!
They have a bird "area" (for lack of a better word) and Max loved it! There were peacocks, pheasants, guineas and other pretty birds-some in the cages and others that are allowed to just wander around.
I just like this picture because we have one of my dad hugging a tree at close to the same age-Max had no interest in the tree-he is playing with a Sweetgum tree ball.
Max and Grandma Donna cheering on the Hogs in their Razorback gear-didn't help though :-(
Chowing down on Mommy's blueberry muffin-yum!yum! Note:the mark on his nose is from his attempt to crawl off the bed in the dark-quite unsuccessfully I might add!
We so rarely get a picture of all three of us together. Note:I look very short-since Max is mobile now I tend to go for flats instead of my normal heels. Oh well-I wouldn't trade it for the world!

The proud Grandparents and the little rascal-getting ready to head home!A great FIRST visit at Gastons White River Resort-looking forward to next year!

A Phenomenal Visit!

We got to visit with our favorite Tulsa residents over our birthday weekend! Baker has gotten to be a big boy-sorry Keb, he is no longer a little guy! He is still uber cute though! He and Max did great together. I really didn't know how either guy would do-Max is very grabby, tear-it-up, in-your-face right now and I thought Baker might get annoyed by it. Much to my surprise, Baker seemed quite happy to build block towers and let Max come right behind and smash them down. Good Job Baker! We appreciate it. We had a great visit and hope we get to visit again soon!
Aren't they just the cutest little guys ever! They even kinda matched-not on purpose but it worked!
Good Lookin Bunch!

The reasons we love LOVE October!

We love fall-more specifically, we love October! Here is why:

~Birthday month for Cody and I!

~Wedding anniversary month for us!

~Family vacation month!!!
The fun is well underway, we had a wonderful birthday on the 10th. Lots of food and seeing family. We wouldn't have it any other way! Here are some pictures from our dinner at mom's-a tradition that I WILL NOT flex on! My mother has always cooked my birthday meal and I am not giving that up! Cody does get his own meal-he got to pick out our Thursday night meal. (we go to my parents house every Thursday night for dinner) His pick was Shrimp Scampi and Oven Fried Potatoes-pretty good, but mine tops it! I picked Chicken Enchiladas with Broccoli Slaw and Homemade German Chocolate Cake. YUMMY!!!!! Oh and we started with Guacamole-delish!

Singing Happy Birthday to each other

Being comforted after the Birthday song nightmare!

Wishing daddy would open the Slim Jim so he could chew on it! Sorry Buddy-its for your own good!

More post will follow as we continue to move through our favorite month!

I have a ham!

Max has figured out what the camera is and eats it up! As soon as he sees the red focus light on the camera he turns on the charm! For weeks I have been trying to catch the elusive "cheesy grin" that everyone catches a glimpse of but never gets a really good look at. Well now I have tons of those priceless pictures! Here are a few of my favorites-enjoy!
Just getting warmed up! Really getting into it! The eyes disappear! I can't help that my child is too stinkin cute for words!
We are loving him in footy jamma's!

Snot, tears and screaming

The above title is also a rather depressing list of what has filled my life the past week or so. If you will note-one thing missing from that list is sleep, it is also missing from my life! Max is currently fighting the same sinus infection I had last month, no fun! I know what it is like but that is apparently not what Max darling wants to hear. For the past four nights the little man has not slept well at all-or maybe we can just change that to not slept at all. It makes me quite sad to have a crying child but at some point the sadness morphs into severe sleep deprivation meets frustration. I love my boy but if it weren't for Cody and our tag-team-Max-relay we have developed I am pretty sure I would try to get the hospital to take Max back! We kinda do this 45min on 45min off thing, one of us "entertains" (for lack of a better term) Max for about 45 min letting the other sleep and then we switch out. Sucks but works for us! During the day it is a different story-Max is actually a very happy child-as long as he is fully fueled and charged. As soon as his gages get below the halfway mark he has no fuse. Any little thing will set him off and it is close to impossible to rein him back in. Oh well-this is life, right? He seems to be on the mend and thank God he never had a fever. I guess just the fact that I now have time to blog is evidence that Max is slowly but surely getting better!

Weird Phobia

To start off, I would like to say Happy Belated 18th Birthday to my littlest sister! We love you Aunt Audrey! Last Sunday we had a lovely lunch and yummy birthday cupcakes (if I do say so myself!) out at mom and dad's to celebrate. Now for the sad part. Over the past 3 months we have had 4 birthday's in the family. As far as I know, no one under the age of 30 is against these celebrations of life and living another year, that was until we began including my darling son in the festivities. The dinner's go great but once we get to the main event it all goes to heck! He looses it! The second anyone starts to sing the Happy Birthday song he just melts and if you don't get him out of the room quickly he goes into hysterics, I mean the whole bit! One time would just be a mood thing and twice maybe just the time of day. But 4 times in a row?! We have yet to figure out what we will do in 4 months when it is his turn. lol!

Chomp Chomp!

Well, Max has changed yet again. For the past few months we have been able to enjoy sleeping around 7 hours a night. Max wouldn't sleep uninterrupted the entire time but it was always only a matter of 2-3 mins to get him back to sleep. The past 3 nights in a row he has decided to get up at 1 AM and stay up for at least an hour. He isn't being grumpy or upset-he is just awake. Unfortunately, he requires an audience so either Cody or myself has to be up with him. Not nice! Not to mention-does anyone have a child that sleeps still at night? Max kicks and wiggles an insane amount! (Probably my biggest reason for really wanting him outta MY bed!) My quality sleep is completely gone!
Oh-now that Max has discovered his little nippers he has taken up spontaneously biting anything/anyone close to him! This has resulted in more than one surprised victim-like Aunt Audrey in church, or mommy carrying the boy up the stairs, or daddy trying to sleep in the bed next to the little piranha! Something is going to have to change-the child is just getting more teeth and stronger jaws. Right now, if you get bit and say "ow" or some such exclamation, the little monster will look at you and laugh! Scary, I know! SEE!-Those little things hurt!
Beyond all of those complaints, life is great! I have the cutest baby boy in the world and an absolutely AWEsome husband. Max is trying to walk and crawl more and more each day. We are really looking forward to trying to keep up with him.
The picture above is mostly on here cuz he is such a stinkin cute naked boy-but also so you can get a real idea of just how massive his thighs are! And yes-we know he has no butt! It is a Lukas man thing!
And see-He is soo close to crawling. He gets in this position and will sit there rocking back and forth a few minutes before he just gives up and does a belly flop.

He sticks that little hiney as far up in the air as he can-my little yoga boy!

He loves Grandpa Mark's motorcycle, sooo many shiny metal pieces!

Sleepy sleepy baby!

Ok the title of this post comes both from the following picture and the fact that he is currently SACKED OUT! While we may not have nighttime down to a fine science yet, we definitely have nap time figured out! Between 12:30 and 1:30 he will fall asleep, usually with minimal fussing, and he will sleep anywhere from 1.5-3.5 hours! L.O.V.E it! So here is one of my favorite pictures right now. I had to pull over on the side of the road to get it-so appreciate it!

And yes-he fell asleep examining his lion-it was very cute. I have a few more pictures that I am currently in love with-Max is obviously the center of our world right now, Lol! If I were to hazard a guess I would say I have taken 2, maybe 3 pictures of something other than baby in the past 3 weeks! I really need to find a few new hobbies-this is beginning to get serious!

In this last picture he is walking around with his tub toy alligator in his mouth! Yes-that is his current mode of toy transfer. At this point in his development he would far prefer to hold your fingers and walk than anything else. So, that's what we do! He is quite good at it and if he is next to something relatively short (like a coffee table) he will pull up and cruise along. We are quite proud! I predict that he will be crawling in less than 2 weeks, he is SOOOOO close. Well, I hear sleeping beauty growling at me...
